Terms of Service

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of TypeDrift, a typing practice and training application created by Anson Alexander. By accessing or using TypeDrift, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use TypeDrift.

Use of TypeDrift

TypeDrift is provided for typing practice, typing education, skill development, and related progress tracking. You may use many free features without creating an account. Some features require account sign-in, a paid subscription, a license, or another valid entitlement.

Accounts and Account Security

You may create or sign in to an account to sync supported progress and settings, access paid features, preserve Accelerator progress, and use account-based features across devices. You are responsible for maintaining access to your sign-in method, keeping account credentials secure, and reviewing activity associated with your account. Contact support if you believe your account or paid access has been used without authorization.

Free and Paid Features

TypeDrift includes free typing practice features such as supported Letters, Words, Sentences, Wikipedia, Tasks, stats, achievements, Leaderboards, heat-map feedback, and customization. Paid plans may include Custom Text, Saved Custom Texts, Code & Commands, Accelerator, certificates, premium practice options, appearance features, and other Pro functionality. Availability, limits, eligibility rules, and plan contents may change as TypeDrift develops.

Subscriptions, Billing, and Taxes

Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Prices, billing intervals, plan details, and any applicable taxes are shown before purchase or handled by the payment provider as applicable. By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize billing according to the plan selected until the subscription is canceled.

Cancellation

Monthly and yearly subscriptions can be canceled through the Stripe billing portal. After cancellation, paid access generally remains active until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at purchase or required by law.

Refund Policy

TypeDrift subscriptions are generally non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law or where a serious technical issue prevents access to paid features and cannot be reasonably resolved.

If a technical issue materially prevents you from using a paid feature, contact support@typedrift.app. TypeDrift will make a reasonable effort to investigate after receiving enough information to understand or reproduce the issue. If the issue cannot be reasonably resolved, TypeDrift may provide a refund or another appropriate remedy at its discretion, subject to applicable law and payment-provider rules.

Licenses and Entitlements

Some purchases may provide a license key, subscription entitlement, account-based access, or another form of paid authorization. These are intended for the purchaser or authorized user and may not be resold, shared publicly, abused, transferred without permission, or used to bypass TypeDrift’s access controls.

Tasks, Rewards, and Achievements

TypeDrift may offer a Starter Journey, guided Tasks, task outcomes, rewards, achievements, lifetime Tasks Completed totals, and related Leaderboards. Task credit depends on supported completion and validation rules inside TypeDrift. Task availability, goals, eligibility, rewards, streaks, and scoring may change. TypeDrift may correct or remove progress, rewards, rankings, or outcomes affected by errors, abuse, invalid runs, or technical problems.

Accelerator

Accelerator is a structured Pro typing course within TypeDrift. Accelerator may require sign-in so supported progress can be saved and synced. Course structure, speed tiers, accuracy requirements, drills, milestones, certificates, and eligibility rules may change as the course improves.

Certificates

TypeDrift may provide certificates for completed Accelerator tiers or milestones. Certificates reflect data and completion records available to TypeDrift at the time they are issued. Public verification may include certificate details needed to confirm authenticity. TypeDrift does not guarantee that a certificate will be accepted by any school, employer, organization, licensing body, or other third party.

Custom Text and User Content

TypeDrift may allow you to paste, practice, and locally save your own text. You are responsible for the content you choose to use and for having any rights or permissions needed to use it. Do not submit unlawful content, malicious content, confidential information you are not authorized to use, or content that infringes the rights of others.

Saved Custom Texts are designed to remain local to the browser and are not cloud-synced. Local browser data can be lost if storage is cleared, a browser profile is removed, a device is replaced, or local data becomes unavailable. TypeDrift does not guarantee recovery of locally stored Custom Text.

Code & Commands

Code & Commands is typing practice for technical symbols, commands, and patterns. It does not execute code, run commands, debug software, validate security, or guarantee that a typed command is safe or appropriate for a real system. Review and understand commands before using them outside TypeDrift.

Wikipedia and Third-Party Content

Wikipedia mode helps users practice with content from Wikipedia articles. TypeDrift is not affiliated with Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikipedia and other third-party content may be subject to separate licenses, attribution requirements, availability, and terms. TypeDrift may clean, format, excerpt, or adapt text for typing readability and does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or continued availability of third-party content.

Profiles, Leaderboards, and Public Information

If you use profile or Leaderboard features, selected information may be publicly visible, such as a profile name, avatar or badge, scores, ranks, achievements, certificate verification details, or Tasks Completed totals. Do not use a profile name or other public field to publish sensitive personal information or content you do not have the right to share.

Analytics and Privacy

TypeDrift may use analytics and operational data to understand feature use, run starts and completions, exits, performance, reliability, upgrade interactions, and general product behavior. Collection and use of information are described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse TypeDrift. Prohibited conduct includes attempting to interfere with the app, overload services, bypass paid access, abuse subscriptions or licenses, manipulate Tasks or Leaderboards, submit fraudulent runs, probe or exploit security weaknesses, introduce malicious code, scrape protected systems at unreasonable scale, impersonate others, reverse engineer protected systems except where applicable law permits it, or use TypeDrift for unlawful or harmful purposes.

TypeDrift Content and Intellectual Property

TypeDrift’s software, branding, interface, original course material, visual design, original practice content, and related materials are owned by or licensed to TypeDrift and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms allow you to use TypeDrift for its intended personal or authorized educational purpose; they do not transfer ownership of TypeDrift or its content to you.

Feedback

If you send ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, you permit TypeDrift to use that feedback to operate, improve, and develop the product without an obligation to compensate you. Do not send confidential information as feedback.

Progress, Data, and Availability

TypeDrift uses reasonable efforts to preserve supported progress, stats, settings, achievements, account data, and paid access. However, no browser-based or online service can guarantee that all data will always be preserved or available. Clearing browser storage, changing devices, connection issues, authentication problems, provider outages, software bugs, invalid data, or account problems may affect stored information and access.

Changes to TypeDrift

TypeDrift is actively developed. Features, interfaces, prices, plan contents, limitations, eligibility rules, content, course requirements, analytics, integrations, and availability may be updated, added, paused, renamed, or removed. Where practical, material paid-plan changes will be communicated through the app, website, purchase flow, or account-related communication.

Third-Party Services and Links

TypeDrift may rely on or link to third-party services such as authentication providers, hosting providers, Stripe, Google Analytics, Wikipedia, email tools, and support services. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. TypeDrift is not responsible for third-party websites, services, content, outages, or actions outside its control.

No Guarantee of Results

TypeDrift is designed to support typing practice, but improvement depends on factors such as practice consistency, technique, accuracy, device, keyboard, health, and individual learning differences. TypeDrift does not guarantee a specific typing speed, score, ranking, certificate outcome, educational result, employment result, or other result.

Disclaimer of Warranties

TypeDrift is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TypeDrift disclaims warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms. TypeDrift does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent feature availability, data preservation, or compatibility with every device, browser, keyboard, network, accessibility setup, or use case.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TypeDrift and its creator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of TypeDrift, inability to use TypeDrift, loss of data, inability to access features, third-party services, or reliance on typing results. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Suspension and Termination

TypeDrift may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address violations of these Terms, abuse, fraud, security risks, misuse of licenses or subscriptions, manipulation of results, harmful activity, legal requirements, or threats to normal operation. You may stop using TypeDrift at any time and may cancel a paid subscription through the billing portal.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated as TypeDrift changes. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version. Continued use after updated Terms become effective means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.

Severability and No Waiver

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
